The Loire Valley and its wines

The region
The Loire is the longest river in France, the last wild river in Europe, and has been designated a World Heritage area by UNESCO.
The Loire Valley lies at the heart of France. Much of French history has taken place along the Loire. This is the reason why the Loire Valley is where many of France's finest Châteaux are located. Today the Loire Valley is the most popular tourist destination in France after Paris and the Riviera.
